Swimming Upstream

Our kids have taken swimming lessons on and off over the years. When they aren't taking lessons we visit the pool regularly. We approach swimming as a fun activity, something we can do together all year round as a family. At the same time we also view swimming as a life skill the kids need to have. This has become even more important since we have moved to the land of lakes, being at the beach is more common then not being there during the summer months.

We want the kids to be comfortable, have fun and enjoy water the way a kid should. Time spent on a regular basis swimming, playing and just being in the water helps my kids grow in their swimming ability in leaps and bounds. I was watching them navigate the river we often go to, swim against the current, confidently problem solve when the water was feeling really fast. They worked it out, challenged themselves, knew when enough was enough, asked for help when needed. Had fun.

It's that time of year, we have been talking about swimming lessons and signing up for the up coming fall session. This is where the skills come in. While we want swimming to be fun, we also want them to have the skills needed to endure, be safe, be educated.
