This series of crafting I have been organizing has been awakening the holiday spirit. These sessions allow me to be in the moment, watch the kids (and adults) enjoy themselves without the to do list butting in.
This week we had three different crafting areas. The first was for salt dough ornaments. Everyone brought with them their collection of cookie cutters, giving us a great selection to choose from. While the ornaments were baking we had the chance to work on some stamping projects. On one table there was potato stamping. I used the cookie cutters as the template for the stamp, giving it a nice clean look and easy way to cut out a design. There were different sizes of paper for cards or wrapping that were laid out, on which the kids could make different patterns. At another table one of the mums had brought her scrap booking treasures. She had a fabulous selection of stamps and different colours of ink. We used these on tissue paper to make a more delicate type of wrapping.
The big hit out of her collection was a cutter which punched out gift tags. We used card stock both patterned and festive for the tags. Then we stamped them with festive pictures and hole punched them. The mums got caught up in this just as much as the kids!
