Standing Proud

The handmade Olympic torches have been lit again. The excitement of watch powerful, skilled athletes is once again in the air. The Paralympics has started and everyone is thrilled. There is a real love for sledge hockey happening, with snowboards and sticks being used to create their own equipment (with the very last bit of snow). The buzz around the dinner table is how different sports can be modified, for the winter but also all year round.

Olympic Fever

The morning routine has altered recently to include previewing any new Olympic medals and to check the schedule for the days events. Eyes have been glued to many different events, including last nights hockey game (we are so thankful for those rabbit ears!). It has been wonderful to see the kids get so into the Olympics this year. They have been building moguls in the back yard, trying different snow boarding moves (complete with trick names), lugging and skeleton runs, all together for some bobsledding. Curling is a newly appreciate game, especially since they have been learning how to play.

Olympic Torch

Yesterday joined our community in welcoming the Olympic torch as it made its way through. What an impressive afternoon! There was music, entertainers, giveaways, flags, tambourines, and lots of people! We were really close to the torch's path, before it went to light the cauldron. It was a beautiful afternoon, another spark in getting us even more excited about the Olympics.
